History

Through faith initiatives among the 94 Triad Church Network congregations, the Bread of LIfe Food Pantry and the Feed My People Hunger Initiative were born. We started with a few shelves of food at the PMBA Resource Center. Soon, we outgrew our “closet” and had to seek another place. Through the kindness and desire to help, Forest Hills Baptist Church opened their doors to our ministry and we began the “Bread of Life Food Pantry.” Numerous clients have crossed our doors from within our own churches 41% of our client base are senior adults over the age of 66.

In October 2015, we had to seek another location for the Bread of Life Food Pantry, and Northwest Baptist Church offered us the space we currently occupy. The Bread of Life Food Pantry is located at 407 Petree Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106, now owned by Emmanuel Church. Most of our clients have made the transition to our new location and we have expanded our ministry efforts to include new families near the present location as well as clients from all areas where Triad Church Network congregations exist. We take referrals from any Triad Church Network congregation, assisting families from Davie, Stokes and Rockingham Counties as well as the numerous families from Forsyth County.

We operate strictly from donations of food and money from local churches, agencies, and individuals.

How You Can Help

Two church-wide food drives per year by your congregation can make all the difference!

Volunteering 2 - 4 hours once a month, enables us to be more than just a Food Pantry.

Praying for this ministry, energizes and gives hope to those who do volunteer and open their pocketbooks to help!

Consider making the Bread of Life Food Pantry a part of your church’s Hunger initiative. (Remember: We always take time to minister to our clients, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, handing out devotional material, praying with our clients and even visiting them in the hospital or attending funerals.)

Annual Food Round Up

In partnership with the Baptist Children’s Homes of NC, we sponsor a Food Round-UP during the month of April to help supplement the needs of the children at Baptist Children’s Homes. We ask all our congregations to collect food (staple items as well as canned goods) along with cleaning supplies, and paper products. Bring your collections to the Triad Church Network office, located at the back of Emmanuel Church of Winston Salem, 407 Petree Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.

Triad Church Network is a drop off for the Annual Food Roundup.
